[ARCHIVED] All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre to Host Auditions for “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”

EAST LANSING, Mich. — All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre (AECT) will be holding open auditions for its upcoming winter production of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” Nov. 19-21.

“The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” is adapted from the C.S. Lewis book of the same title and tells the story of the Pevensie children: Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy, who, on a rainy day in the country, find Narnia – a magical land inside a wardrobe. The friends they meet in Narnia warn them of an impending war between the powerful Aslan and icy White Witch.

Area youth, ages 9-18, can audition for a part in this latest AECT production on Thursday, Nov. 19 and Friday, Nov. 20 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. or Saturday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m.-noon at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road. Those auditioning need only to attend one of the audition times and must be available for callbacks. For those preparing to audition, scripts can be checked out at the ELHCC front desk for a $10 deposit. Youth can also sign up for backstage crew positions (i.e. makeup, costumes, set design).

“This story is full of adventure, heart, bravery, loyalty and faith,” said AECT Artistic Director Sarah Willis. “We’ve all faced tasks that seem impossible – and victory is feasible with great optimism and a steadfast team by your side. The Narnia series teaches that anything is possible!”

Community members are encouraged to mark their calendars for the “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” production, which will be brought to the ELHCC stage Feb. 5-6 and Feb 12-13.

All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre (AECT) offers young people of all backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles the opportunity to produce professional quality plays, study many aspects of the dramatic arts and develop valuable life skills while providing outstanding entertainment to the community. AECT brings four major productions to the Greater Lansing community each year with the help of hundreds of youth from throughout the region.
