EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) is continuing its investigation of a reported sexual assault.
At approximately 5:10 a.m. yesterday, Oct. 21, the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) was dispatched to the 900 block of Northlawn Avenue on a report of a sexual assault. The victim, a 31-year-old female, stated that she was walking home to an apartment in East Lansing when she was attacked from behind, pulled into the woods near the Saginaw-Harrison intersection and sexually assaulted. After the assault, she made contact with a resident in the 900 block of Northlawn Avenue who called 911.
The victim describes the suspect as a white male, approximately 30-40 years old and approximately 6 ft. tall. She describes him as muscular with no facial hair and states that he was wearing jeans and a shirt (unknown color) at the time of the attack. The victim has reiterated that there was no weapon used or indicated during the attack.
The ELPD Detective Bureau is still actively working the case and has made contact with several people who were with the victim throughout the day. ELPD has also followed up on several tips that were received yesterday. ELPD has yet to determine the exact location where the reported assault took place. At this time, there is no connection between this reported sexual assault and any other previous reported sexual assaults in East Lansing.
