[ARCHIVED] Winter Glow to Bring Seasonal Fun to Downtown East Lansing

EAST LANSING, Mich. — There is something for everyone at the popular Winter Glow event – East Lansing’s free, outdoor winter festival.

This winter-inspired annual tradition will take place on Saturday, Dec. 5 in downtown East Lansing and will feature a wide variety of fun-filled seasonal activities from 2-5 p.m. The majority of activities are free.

Winter-Inspired Activities
This year’s Winter Glow will feature ice carving, a winter barnyard, horse and carriage rides, a special outdoor holiday farmer’s market, a heated music tent, activities and games hosted by the Community Relations Coalition and East Lansing Art Festival, wandering carolers with The Steiner Chorale, winter photo scenes, marshmallow roasting, merchant activities, hot chocolate and much more.

Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos from 3-6 p.m. inside the East Lansing Marriott at University Place, 300 M.A.C. Ave. Photos are $3.

Outdoor Holiday Farmer’s Market
A special outdoor holiday farmer’s market will feature many of the popular East Lansing Farmer’s Market vendors. Items for sale will include pickles, honey, garland and wreaths, cheese, maple syrup, baked goods, granola and coffee.

Jingle Jam Music Tent
The Jingle Jam Music Tent will host three musical performances. Deacon Earl will perform from 2-2:45 p.m., Ladies First will perform from 3-3:45 p.m. and The Swift Brothers will perform from 4-4:45 p.m. The tent is heated.

Green Friday (& Saturday too!)
Support local businesses! The Green Friday shopping event, Dec. 4-5, takes place in conjunction with the Winter Glow each year. This special downtown East Lansing version of Black Friday features sales and specials at participating businesses. Visit www.cityofeastlansing.com/greenfriday to learn more.

Program & Shopping Guides
Winter Glow program guides and Green Friday shopping guides will be available at the festival information booth in Fountain Square, located at the corner of M.A.C. and Albert avenues.
