EAST LANSING, Mich. — (SCENE) Metrospace, 110 Charles Street, will host a panel discussion to close the "Substrate: Printed Matter from the Rustbelt" exhibition. The event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. The gallery will open at 1 p.m.
The panel will include Ryan Malloy and Leslie Atzmon from Open Book at EMU, George Wietor from Issue Press and (if his schedule permits) Dylan Miner (of Justseeds and MSU's Residential College).
The panel discussion will include a hearty discussion about the rise of independent publishing in the Rustbelt, the evolution of art books and 'zines over the last five years, activism and the politics of print and production, what it means to be a publisher/printer/designer in the "Rustbelt" and … whatever else arises!
