[ARCHIVED] Actor Tim Busfield to Lead 2nd Annual Performing Arts Warm-Up

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Emmy award-winning actor and East Lansing High School graduate Tim Busfield will lead his 2nd Annual Performing Arts Warm-Up Sept. 10-11.

This year’s warm-up is sponsored by the East Lansing Public Library (ELPL) and Michigan State University (MSU) and will be held at the WKAR studios, 404 Wilson Road, on the campus of MSU.

Busfield is one of America’s most prolific actor/producer/directors. He has more than 650 professional credits, including performances in “Revenge of the Nerds,” “Field of Dreams,” “West Wing,” “Thirtysomething” and more. Busfield is the founder of the award-winning B Street Theater in Sacramento, Calif. and also created the B Street Intern Training Program. He has had more than 75 lead roles in professional plays; and has directed more than 125, acted in more than 250 and served as executive producer of more than 125 episodes of television. He is currently an “Artist in Residence” at MSU and Director of National Content for WKAR.

Tim Busfield’s 2nd Annual Performing Arts Warm-Up will be open to area youth in grades 3-12. Children, grades 3-6, will meet from 10:30 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11; with check-in at 10:15 a.m. both days. Youth, grades 7-12, will meet from 12:30-5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11; with check-in at 12:15 p.m. both days. There will also be morning sessions for teachers from 9:30-10:15 a.m. both days, including “Directing for the Stage” and “Directing for Films and TV.”

A special invitation from Tim Busfield:

“Do you dream about one day acting, singing or dancing in a high school play, college play, Broadway play, movie or television show? Do you dream about one day writing, directing, producing or working on the crew of a high school play, college play, Broadway play, movie or television show? Do you dream about some day being a part of something the whole world might see? This is your chance to start working toward that dream. Elementary to high school actors, singers, dancers, playwrights, screenwriters, set painters, stage managers and filmmakers – this weekend will inspire you and teach you how to do all of those things! And how to do them better!”

Tim Busfield’s 2nd Annual Performing Arts Warm-Up is free and open to all. Registration begins Tuesday, July 5 at www.elpl.org/register. Parking is available in the ramp adjacent to the MSU Communication Arts and Sciences Building and the surface lot south of the building at the corner of Trowbridge and Red Cedar roads. Parking is free on weekends.
