EAST LANSING, Mich. — A dedication ceremony will be held for the newly named Corey Cafagna Park on Wednesday, June 15 at 5:30 p.m. The park is located at the intersection of Sunset Lane and Southlawn Avenue, behind the East Lansing Hannah Community Center.
Corey Cafagana was a resident of the Glencairn Neighborhood who passed away at a young age. As a boy, he spent many hours in the pocket park now named for him singing songs and playing music. A neighbor, who often heard Corey from her nearby home, recently set in motion the process of naming the park in his memory.
A name sign has been installed in the park as well as some new landscaping and two new benches – one purchased by the Cafagna family. Community members are invited to attend the dedication, which will also serve as a community ice cream social.
A fundraising campaign is currently underway to raise funds for recent and future improvements at the park. Tax-deductible donations can be sent to:

Checks should be made out to the City of East Lansing with “Corey Cafagna Park” in the subject line.
