EAST LANSING, Mich. – The major street project on North Harrison Road, between Saginaw Street and Lake Lansing Road, will begin on Monday, June 20. The project is slated for completion by Aug. 19.
In order to expedite the work and meet the completion date, the road will be closed to traffic for the duration of the project. Local traffic will be maintained to the extent possible; however, motorists are expected to seek alternate routes if they are able. The City and contractor will be working closely with those residents who have driveways off of Harrison Road. The signed detour will direct northbound Harrison Road traffic to take Saginaw Street east to Abbot Road and head north on Abbot Road to Lake Lansing Road. The detour will direct southbound Harrison Road traffic to take Lake Lansing Road east to Abbot Road and head south on Abbot Road to Saginaw Street.
1855 Place Project Construction
In addition to the major street project on North Harrison Road, there will be intermittent lane closures on South Harrison Road, between Kalamazoo Street and Shaw Lane, from approximately June 27-July 29. The temporary lane closures will allow contractors to replace the median in this section of Harrison Road and mill and repave the adjacent driving lanes as part of the 1855 Place Project. During this work, one lane will remain open at all times in each direction on Harrison Road.
Breslin Center Construction
As part of an ongoing project at the Breslin Center, the northbound deceleration lane immediately north of Shaw Lane will be closed June 14-30. The two northbound lanes will be maintained during the work. The contractor anticipates intermittent lane closures for the northbound outside lane at times to allow for completion of relocating the existing drive approach to the Breslin Center surface lot. If needed, one northbound lane will be open to traffic. Upon completion of the work, the lane closure will be pulled back to the deceleration lane. Lane closures will be signed accordingly.
