[ARCHIVED] East Lansing’s Moonlight Film Festival Kicks Off this July

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing's 2016 Moonlight Film Festival will kick off this July, featuring FREE movies shown on a big, outdoor screen in Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court Park. There will also be a special movie at the East Lansing Softball Complex on Thursday, July 21.

The 2016 Moonlight Film Festival will take place on Thursday nights, July 7-Aug. 11, at 9:30 p.m. in July and 9 p.m. in August. Community members are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy a night under the stars. A Goomba’s food tent will be on site selling pizza and Pokee Stix.

NEW! Activities Prior to the Movies
New this year, the Moonlight Film Festival will feature special activities prior to show times that tie into the themes of the movies. Please note the varying times for the activities in the schedule below.

Here is the 2016 Moonlight Film Festival schedule:

Thursday, July 7 @ 9:30 p.m. – “School of Rock” (PG-13, edited)
Community Talent Show @ 7 p.m.

Community members can sign up for the Community Talent Show beginning at 6:30 p.m. A microphone and iPod hookup will be provided. All talents are welcome, from dancing to telling jokes, acting, juggling, singing, playing music and more.

Thursday, July 14 @ 9:30 p.m. – “Max” (PG)
ELPD K9 Demonstration @ 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, July 21 @ 9:30 p.m. – “The Rookie” (G)
*Special Movie Location: East Lansing Softball Complex, 6408 Abbot Road
Late Swim @ the East Lansing Aquatic Center, 6400 Abbot Road, until 9:30 p.m.

Thursday, July 28 @ 9:30 p.m.– “Where the Wild Things Are” (PG)
Pop-up Storytime @ 7 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 4 @ 9 p.m. – “Homeward Bound” (G)
Ingham County Animal Shelter Adoption Event @ 7 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 11 @ 9 p.m. – “Babe” (G)
Animal Parade @ 7 p.m.
