EAST LANSING, Mich. — As was reported earlier this year, the City of East Lansing has been awarded a $99,000 Blight Elimination Program grant from the Michigan Land Bank Fast Track Authority to demolish the property owned by the East Lansing Downtown Development Authority at 303 Abbot Road.
Demolition of the property will begin this week and will take approximately four weeks to complete. Asbestos abatement, clearance testing and inspections of the building have been completed.
During the demolition, there will be sidewalk closures adjacent to the building and fencing has been installed around the building for safety and security purposes. There could also be some intermittent, temporary closures of roadways adjacent to the project.
This property, located within the Park District Planning Area, is the first of a number of Park District properties that will be demolished this year.
