EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Community Relations Coalition (CRC) will kick off another great year of community building and outreach in the East Lansing-MSU community with its neighborhood ice cream socials and fall neighborhood cleanups.
The ice cream socials will provide long-term residents and students living in close proximity to each other with a chance to come out and mingle in a fun and informal neighborhood setting. The ice cream socials will also provide neighbors with a chance to meet the new CRC student interns, who will be working to enhance relationships and build community within East Lansing’s diverse neighborhoods throughout the coming academic school year. Free ice cream will be served.
This year’s ice cream socials will take place from 6-7 p.m. on the following dates:
? Tuesday, Sept. 6 in the Bailey Neighborhood, 300 Bailey St.
? Wednesday, Sept. 7 in the Oakwood Neighborhood, 635 Sunset Lane
? Monday, Sept. 12 in the Red Cedar Neighborhood, 1054 Marigold Ave.
The CRC will host three neighborhood cleanups this fall in an effort to clean up East Lansing’s off-campus neighborhoods following MSU home football games.
This year’s neighborhood cleanups will take place from 10:30 a.m.-noon on the following dates:
? Sunday, Sept. 25 (Wisconsin)
? Sunday, Oct. 16 (Northwestern)
? Sunday, Oct. 30 (Michigan)
Community members interested in lending a hand at one of the cleanups can meet up with the CRC at 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot behind the East Lansing Police Department, 409 Park Lane. Trash bags and gloves will be provided.
