EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Department of Public Works would like to make residents aware of the upcoming exterior cleaning and painting of the water tower on the south end of Patriarche Park off Alton Road, scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 3, 2016 and to be completed in approximately 30 calendar days. This project is part of an ongoing program to improve the infrastructure throughout the City. The contractor for the project is H2O Towers, LLC of Saline, Michigan.
This project will involve draining the tower and temporarily removing it from service so that the work can be performed. The project will include some minor interior and exterior safety modifications, high pressure cleaning of the tank exterior and the application of a multi-layer coating system to protect the tower from corrosion. Residents should not notice any impacts to their water supply as a result of this project.
To help avoid the potential for damage to vehicles during the cleaning and painting process, the drive to the tower and adjacent parking areas will be closed at Alton Road during this project. Visitors are asked to utilize the main drive and parking areas north of the tower when visiting Patriarche Park during this project.
Community members with questions or concerns, or who would like additional information, can contact the East Lansing Department of Public Works at (517) 337-9459.
