ELPD Investigates Strong Armed Robbery

EAST LANSING, Mich. – On Saturday, Sept. 24 at approximately 11:30 p.m., the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) responded to a strong armed robbery near the Elizabeth-M.A.C. intersection.

The victim was walking near the intersection when he was assaulted by a group of juvenile males (unknown race) and his credit cards, cash and cell phone were taken. View surveillance images. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact ELPD Det. Tony Fuller at (517) 319-6889.

ELPD encourages residents to take safety precautions during the late evening and early morning hours in East Lansing, especially if they are intoxicated. Groups of juvenile males are targeting intoxicated individuals who are walking home alone to steal wallets, cell phones and other valuable items.

It is important to stay vigilant and limit distractions, especially talking on cell phones while walking late at night. Walking in groups and staying away from poorly lit areas, such as alleys, is also encouraged.
