[ARCHIVED] Community Invited to Fire Safety Open House at Eastwood Towne Center

EAST LANSING, Mich. – As part of National Fire Prevention Month, the Lansing Metro Fire Department will be hosting a Fire Safety Open House this Saturday, Oct. 22 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Eastwood Towne Center.

Participating fire departments will include the East Lansing Fire Department (ELFD), Lansing Fire Department, Lansing Township Fire Department and Delhi Township Fire Department. Activities will include a live fire demonstration, a vehicle extrication demonstration, portable fire extinguisher training, two ELFD Pumper & Pals shows, a bounce house, fire hose spraying for the kids, fire vehicles to check out and much more. There will also be free Domino’s pizza and beverages provided by Meijer.

This year’s theme is Don’t Wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years! Most people don’t realize that the life span of a smoke detector is 10 years. Community members are encouraged to check the dates on their smoke detectors and replace them if they are expired.

All community members are welcome to attend this free, family friendly event. Eastwood Towne Center is located at 3003 Preyde Blvd. in Lansing Township. The Fire Safety Open House will be taking place on the north side of the area, between NCG – Eastwood Cinemas and the new mixed-use buildings.
