[ARCHIVED] ELPL Offers Generation E Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Middle and High School Students

East Lansing, MI – November 7, 2016 – The East Lansing Public Library (ELPL) and the Generation E Institute (GenEI) will be offering a free, two-day youth entrepreneurship Bootcamp on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at ELPL, 950 Abbot Road, East Lansing, MI 48823.

Through the GenEI entrepreneurship program, mid-Michigan youth will be introduced to idea generation, market surveys, product design and pitching their ideas. Bootcamp participants will learn about business ownership and what it takes to become an entrepreneur. Working in teams, participants will take on the challenge of redesigning an already existing product and come up with ways to market their new-and-improved creation to customers.

Topics covered at an age-appropriate level include:
• Idea Generation• Business plan development
• Customer service• Marketing
• Pricing• Production
• Selling

Following the boot camp, participants will be given an opportunity to work with ELPL’s Teen Librarian, taking their idea to design a prototype using ELPL’s 3D printers in the newly renovated Maker Studio.
