[ARCHIVED] Green Friday (& Saturday too!) to Take Place in Downtown East Lansing Dec. 2-3

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Green Friday (& Saturday too!) – downtown East Lansing’s special version of the popular day-after-Thanksgiving Black Friday sales – will take place December 2-3, 2016.

Holiday shoppers will enjoy a variety of sales and specials at the shops, galleries, boutiques and restaurants located in downtown East Lansing. Business hours will vary among participating merchants. A coupon for free parking on Friday, Dec. 2 will be posted online at www.cityofeastlansing.com/GreenFriday beginning Tuesday, Nov. 29. Downtown merchants will also have copies of the parking coupons printed in a special Green Friday/Winter Glow brochure.

“This is a great opportunity to support local downtown East Lansing businesses, while taking advantage of some great sales and specials,” said East Lansing Community Development & Engagement Manager Amy Schlusler.

A list of participating businesses and sales/specials is available at www.cityofeastlansing.com/GreenFriday. The website will be updated with additional sales/specials as the two-day shopping event gets closer, so check back often!

Arts Night Out
In conjunction with the Green Friday shopping event, Arts Night Out will be hosted in downtown East Lansing on the evening of Friday, Dec. 2, beginning at 5 p.m. Learn more at http://www.myartsnightout.com.

Winter Glow
The City of East Lansing’s annual Winter Glow event will take place in conjunction with the Green Friday shopping event on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 2-5 p.m. This winter-inspired event will feature a wide variety of fun-filled seasonal activities, including ice carving, an ice sculpture walk throughout the downtown, horse-and-carriage rides, a winter farmer's market, children’s activities and games, live music, roasted marshmallows, photos with Santa, a winter barnyard, merchant activities and much more.
