[ARCHIVED] Mayor Mark Meadows Appointed to the National League of Cities Energy, Environment and Natural Resour

EAST LANSING, Mich. – East Lansing Mayor Mark Meadows has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2017 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) federal advocacy committee. This committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC’s federal policy positions on issues involving air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, noise control and solid and hazardous waste management. The appointment was announced by NLC President Matt Zone, a Councilmember in Cleveland, Ohio.

“The City of East Lansing has a long history of implementing local policies and programs geared toward effecting positive environmental change,” said Mayor Meadows. “As the mayor of an environmentally conscious community, I look forward to working with like-minded leadership from throughout the country in developing federal policy positions that will have a positive impact on local government operations.”

As a member of the committee, Mayor Meadows will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the new administration and at home.

The leadership of this year’s committee will consist of Chair Salvatore Panto, Jr. (Mayor, Easton, Pa.) and Vice Chairs Hattie Portis-Jones (Councilmember, Fairburn, Ga.) and Cynthia Pratt (Deputy Mayor, Lacey, Wash.).
