EAST LANSING, Mich. – East Lansing’s pop-up ice skating rink will make its return to Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court, this February.
The rink will be free and open to the general public Feb. 1-28, weather permitting. Skate hours will be noon-9 p.m. Community members will need to bring their own skates to the rink.
Daily updates will be provided at www.downtownel.com indicating whether the rink will be open or closed for the day due to weather. Community members can also visit the website to learn about rink rules and volunteer opportunities throughout the month of February.
About the Rink
East Lansing’s 52x72-foot pop-up ice skating rink made its debut in February 2016. It can accommodate approximately 30 skaters at one time. Daily operations of the rink are managed by staff members with the East Lansing Department of Planning, Building & Development.
Assembling the Rink – Media Invited
This Friday, Jan. 27 a group of community volunteers will meet at Valley Court Park to assemble the pop-up ice skating rink. Members of the East Lansing City Council, Capital Area Housing Partnership, Michigan Asset Group and the East Lansing Downtown Management Board will be in attendance to assist with the construction. Rink assembly will begin at 10:30 a.m. All members of the media are invited to attend.
