EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Community Relations Coalition (CRC) is excited to host The Big Green Gig – a special Peace and Earth Day celebration – on Saturday, April 22 from 3-6 p.m. at Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court. East Lansing-MSU community members of all ages are invited to attend this free, family friendly community event.

The CRC will be partnering with MSU registered student organizations and other local community organizations to offer a wide variety of activities during the event, including painting flowerpots, tie-dye, a drum circle, plant giveaways, a model biodome and much, much more. Partnering organizations will include the East Lansing Department of Public Works, MSU Greenpeace, Spartan Sierra Club, Greener Together, Sustainable Spartans, MSU Bailey Bee Team, MSU Counter Cuisine Club, MSU Climate Reality Project Campus Corps, MSU LEAF Club, Student Greenhouse Project, SETER, MSU Fisheries, ROK and Wildlife and Lettuce Live Well.

In addition to the activities offered by the partnering organizations, there will be live music at the event featuring Speak Easy, State of Fifths, Monte Pride, King Charles, Eric Smith and The Sneeks.

“We hope to see a great community turnout down at Valley Court Park on Earth Day for The Big Green Gig,” said CRC intern Payden Myers. “We are excited to bring together a number of organizations and community members to celebrate our planet in a beautiful, open-air park atmosphere.”

The CRC is a nonprofit that was established in 1999 to create a more integrated MSU-East Lansing community– one that is mutually beneficial to both students and longer-term residents. The CRC strives to build relationships through problem solving, information sharing and community events designed to bridge the gaps between all members of the community.
