[ARCHIVED] Arbor Day Tree Planting to Take Place at Pinecrest Elementary on Friday, April 28

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The City of East Lansing’s annual Arbor Day tree planting with Pinecrest Elementary School students will take place Friday, April 28 at 3 p.m. in Henry Fine Park.

Henry Fine Park is located on Winchester Drive at Crown Boulevard, adjacent to Pinecrest Elementary School. Members of the media who would like to attend are asked to arrive early and check in at the school office to receive a visitor’s pass.

East Lansing resident and retired forester Mike Vasievich will lead the tree planting, educating the students about the importance of trees in an urban environment. East Lansing Environmental Services Administrator Cathy DeShambo will also be in attendance to assist with the planting.

Van Atta’s Greenhouse and Flower Shop has once again generously donated the tree for the annual planting. A beautiful Katsura tree will be planted.

The City of East Lansing has been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for the 30th year.
