EAST LANSING, Mich. – Officers with the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) responded to Reno's East, 1310 Abbot Road, at approximately 1:20 a.m. today, July 24 on a report of a man firing multiple gunshots into the air.
Upon arrival, officers found that the suspect had left the area. In speaking to witnesses, the officers were able to obtain a reliable, detailed description of both the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. While officers were on scene at Reno's East, ELPD received another call of shots fired in the 1600 block of Greencrest Avenue. Officers responding to the incident on Greencrest Avenue made contact with a suspect matching the description of the individual accused in the Reno's East incident. A subsequent investigation confirmed that the Greencrest Avenue suspect was the same suspect from the Reno's East shooting. A loaded handgun and two fully loaded magazines were recovered from the scene on Greencrest Avenue.
The suspect is a 34-year-old East Lansing man. He is currently in custody at the East Lansing jail pending arraignment on multiple charges.
