[ARCHIVED] Great Lakes Folk Festival Road and Parking Lot Closures

EAST LANSING, Mich. —The MSU Museum will present the 2017 Great Lakes Folk Festival (GLFF) Aug. 11-13 in downtown East Lansing.

The GLFF offers a one-of-a-kind mix of music and dance stages, demonstrations of traditional arts and storytelling, authentic ethnic food, an arts marketplace and children’s activities.

In order to accommodate the festival, a number of roads and surface parking lots will be closed to traffic.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, these parking lots will be closed:

Albert Avenue Lot, 230 Albert Ave.

City Hall West Lot, 415 Abbot Road (across from East Lansing City Hall)

Beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, these roads and parking lots will be closed:

Albert Avenue between Evergreen Avenue and Charles Street

Abbot Road between Grand River Avenue and Elizabeth Street

M.A.C. Avenue between Grand River Avenue and Linden Street

Grove Street at Albert Avenue

Abbot/Albert Lot, 311 Abbot Road

All roads and surface lots will open back up to traffic on Sunday, Aug. 13 at approximately 11 p.m.

Parking Options
A number of parking options are available in downtown East Lansing for those attending the festival. Learn more at www.cityofeastlansing.com/parking. Handicap parking will be available adjacent to the festival site, including East Lansing City Hall’s north parking lot, 410 Abbot Road; the 300 block of M.A.C. Avenue in front of Saint John’s Student Parish; and all remaining municipal lots.

If you live nearby, another great option for getting to the festival is by bike. Bike valet parking will be provided free of charge by the Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council at the corner of Evergreen and Albert avenues.
