EAST LANSING, Mich. – The East Lansing Department of Public Works would like to make residents aware of the upcoming interior and exterior cleaning and painting of the water tower at Gordon Guyer Park, located at the intersection of Prescott Drive and Chartwell Carriageway South.
The project is scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 21 and will be completed in approximately 50 calendar days. This project is part of an ongoing program to improve the infrastructure throughout the City of East Lansing. The contractor for the project is L&T Painting of Shelby Township, Mich.
The project will involve draining the tower and temporarily removing it from service so that the work can be performed. The project will include some minor interior and exterior safety modifications, high pressure cleaning of the tank’s interior/exterior and the application of a multi-layer coating system to protect the tower from corrosion. Residents should not notice any impacts to their water supply as a result of this project.
Community members can contact the East Lansing Department of Public Works at (517) 337-9459 with questions, concerns and/or to request additional information.
