EAST LANSING, Mich. — Tickets are now available for the Greater Lansing Area Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission’s 33nd Annual Luncheon. The luncheon, held each year to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will take place on Monday, Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. at The Lansing Center, 333 Michigan Ave.
Tickets can be purchased at both the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road, and Lansing City Hall, 124 W. Michigan Ave. Tickets are $45 each or $360 for a table of eight.
The theme for the 2018 luncheon is: “We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope.” These words were spoken by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Washington D.C. in 1968.
This year’s program will feature keynote speaker Dr. Diane Nash, mother of the Freedom Riders Movement and civil rights activist. Other highlights of the Jan. 15 program will include the honoring of middle school and high school students who participated and placed in the Commission’s essay and scholarship program and a number of special presentations by GRAMMY Award-winning gospel music recording artist CeCe Winans.
