EAST LANSING, Mich. – The City of East Lansing will be hosting public input open houses for The Bigger Picture East Lansing Draft Master Plan this February 2018.
Four open houses will be held to provide residents with an opportunity to review the Draft Master Plan, ask questions and share input for the East Lansing Planning Commission’s consideration. The public input open houses will take place on the following dates:
- Monday, February 5, 2018
MacDonald Middle School Cafeteria, 1601 Burcham Drive
- Wednesday, February 7, 2018
Pinecrest Elementary School Library, 1811 Pinecrest Drive
- Monday, February 12, 2018
Islamic Center of East Lansing, 920 S. Harrison Road
- Monday, February 26, 2018
East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road
The open house format will allow residents to drop in anytime during a three-hour period and spend as much or as little time as needed. Residents are welcome to attend multiple open houses; however, the same information will be shared at each event, so it is not necessary to attend more than one.
A Master Plan is required by the Michigan Planning Enabling Act and projects land use planning 20 years into the future. The City of East Lansing’s Draft Master Plan is currently undergoing a 63-day review process, which includes the public input open houses. Following the review process, the Planning Commission will hold a work session to determine whether changes will be made before a public hearing is held to adopt the document.
Community members can learn more and view the Draft Master Plan online at www.cityofeastlansing.com/MasterPlan. Hard copies of the plan are also available at the East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbot Road, and at East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road, in the Department of Planning, Building & Development.
