About the Training
The Lansing, East Lansing, Lansing Township, Meridian Township, Delta Township and Delhi Charta Township Fire Departments have teamed up with the ALICE® Training Institute to bring ALICE® Instructor Training to ELHCC on Jan. 30-31. This two-day instructor course is designed to teach proactive survival strategies for violent intruder or active shooter incidents. The goal is to provide individuals with survival-enhancing options for critical moments in the gap between when a violent situation begins and law enforcement arrives. Representatives from various local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, schools and community organization will be participating in this training.
ALICE® stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate. It is a useful strategy for everyone, from law enforcement to schools, universities, hospitals, businesses and places of worship. Completing the instructor training course provides individuals with certification in ALICE Training and allows them to take ALICE® strategies back to their places of work. Additionally, registrants gain access to exclusive ALICE resources.
ALICE® aligns with recommendations from the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
About ALICE® Training Institute
The ALICE® Training Institute is changing how schools, universities and businesses respond to armed intruders. ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate), developed after Columbine, teaches strategies to survive a life-threatening event.
This training is supported by a successful State of Michigan Competitive Grant Assistant Program (CGAP) award received by members of the aforementioned Fire Shared Services Department.
