EAST LANSING, Mich. — East Lansing’s pop-up ice skating rink will make its return to Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court, this February.
Weather permitting; the rink will likely open to the public sometime this weekend. A notice will be provided at www.cityofeastlansing.com/IceRink once the ice is ready and the rink has opened.
Once the rink has opened, it will be free and available to the general public through Feb. 28 (weather permitting). Hours of operation will be noon-9 p.m. Daily updates will be provided at www.cityofeastlansing.com/IceRink indicating whether the rink is open for the day. Community members will need to bring their own skates to the rink.
The pop-up ice skating rink can accommodate approximately 30 skaters at one time. Daily operations of the rink will be managed by staff members with the East Lansing Department of Planning, Building & Development.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Jan. 31, representatives from the City of East Lansing, Capital Area Housing Partnership, Michigan Asset Group and the East Lansing Downtown Management Board will be assembling the rink. Rink assembly will likely take about two hours. Members of the media are welcome to attend.
