EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are advised that City of East Lansing offices and facilities, with the exception of the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), will be closing early today, Feb. 9 at noon due to the winter storm.
Offices and facilities that will be closing early include East Lansing City Hall, the East Lansing 54B District Court, the East Lansing Public Library and the East Lansing Department of Public Works (DPW). The East Lansing Hannah Community Center will remain open during regular hours.
Snow Removal Update
DPW crews have been out since the beginning of the storm and will continue to work to keep East Lansing's streets passable. Plow crews will continue to focus on major streets, state trunklines and hills and hazardous corners on locals streets during the storm. Once the storm has ended and major streets and trunklines are clear, crews will transition to local streets, possibly as early as this evening. The plowing of alleys, dead ends and cul-de-sacs will extend into tomorrow. DPW's plan will be adjusted if the forecast changes.
Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully today and to drive for the conditions. Motorists are asked not to tailgate plow trucks and to be careful when passing.
East Lansing property owners are reminded to clear the sidewalks adjacent to their property: http://www.cityofeastlansing.com/snowremoval. If possible, residents are encouraged to refrain from parking on local streets to allow for more effective plowing operations.
