[ARCHIVED] Find the Bee, Eat for Free Giveaway Launching in Downtown East Lansing

EAST LANSING, Mich. — In an effort to encourage community members to continue supporting downtown East Lansing businesses during the Center City District construction, the East Lansing Downtown Management Board and East Lansing Downtown Development Authority will be launching a new Find the Bee, Eat for Free giveaway activity next week.

Beginning Monday, March 12, community members are encouraged to check out the Downtown East Lansing Facebook page each week to find a photo of the #ELBuzz bee mascot hanging out a downtown restaurant. Participants are encouraged to find the location, snap a selfie with the bee and post it on Downtown East Lansing’s Facebook page or their personal Facebook, Twitter or Instagram page using #BeeDowntownEL. By using the hashtag, participants will be automatically entered into a drawing for that week. The winner will receive a $100 gift card to the restaurant location where the selfie was taken. The bee will remain in the same location for one week’s time (Monday to Monday) and will then be moved to a different restaurant location. A new photo will be posted each week on Facebook giving a hint of the bee’s new location.

“Find the Bee, Eat for Free is a new, fun activity meant to feature downtown East Lansing restaurants and draw patrons to the downtown,” said East Lansing Community Development & Engagement Manager Amy Schlusler-Schmitt, “With more than 175 restaurants, retailers, service businesses and art galleries as well as 2,000 available parking spaces, downtown East Lansing has something to offer visitors of all ages.”

The Find the Bee, Eat for Free program will run for six weeks. Community members can visit www.cityofeastlansing.com/FindtheBee for additional information about Find the Bee, Eat for Free and the ongoing Find the Bee, Park for Free activity.
