EAST LANSING, Mich. — On Saturday, March 24, the Community Relations Coalition (CRC) and the East Lansing Public Library (ELPL) will host a community healing event in the wake of the community’s recent experiences with sexual assault, trauma and survival.
The conversation will be led by experts from a variety of organizations who help survivors of sexual assault, including the Firecracker Foundation, EVE, MSU Safe Place, the MSU Sexual Assault Program and the Women's Center of Greater Lansing.
“Our entire community has been affected by the sexual assault tragedies surrounding Larry Nassar, none more so than the survivors,” said ELPL Director Kristin Shelley. “We know there have been discussions on campus, but we recognize that there is a need for a safe place to talk, grieve and heal in the East Lansing community as well. By opening our doors for this special event, we hope to provide a space for a conversation that helps our community to begin to heal and move forward.”
The Moving Forward event will take place from 4-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 at ELPL, 950 Abbot Road. The event is open to anyone from the Greater Lansing community.
