EAST LANSING, Mich. — On the evening of January 8, 2015, the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) held its annual awards ceremony to recognize this past year’s outstanding achievements in law enforcement.
Officers from ELPD, the Meridian Township Police Department, Michigan State Police, the Michigan State University Police Department and the Lansing Police Department were honored with 13 Meritorious Service awards and 60 Letters of Commendation from ELPD Police Chief Juli Liebler.
ELPD Officer Derek Rodriguez received the James S. Johnson Officer of the Year award for his 25 years of continued dedication to the community and the police department.
Parking and Code Enforcement (PACE) Officer Effie Bond received the Mason Samborski Civilian Employee of the Year award for more than 30 years of dedication to her career and the community.
Police Officer David Dekorte received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) award for his continued dedication to drunk driving enforcement within the City of East Lansing.
Pam Saunders of DTN Property Management received the True Blue Award for her long and dedicated support of ELPD.
ELPD has a long history of providing quality protection, service and safety to the residents of East Lansing. The officers and civilians honored at this year’s ceremony have continued that tradition with their hard work and impressive accomplishments.
