EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are advised that both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Albert Avenue, between Abbot Road and Grove Street, will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, May 7 to accommodate infrastructure improvements adjacent to the Center City District construction site. View Map (PDF).
The work, which is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete, will include upgrades to underground public utilities, roadway resurfacing, the addition of new bike lanes and sidewalk and alleyway replacement/improvements.
The sidewalk and alleyway improvements will be done in phases, beginning in June, in order to maintain pedestrian access to businesses throughout the construction period.
Grove Street and the westbound lane on Albert Avenue, between M.A.C. Avenue and Grove Street, will remain open to traffic; however, it’s important to note that left and right turns onto Albert Avenue from Grove Street will be restricted during this work. Motorists exiting the Grove Street garage will need to turn right to access Abbot Road.
Pedestrians and motorists are encouraged to keep an eye out for detour signs in the construction area.
