[ARCHIVED] NEW People’s Choice Award and Pop-Up Gallery at this Year’s ELAF

EAST LANSING, Mich. — During next weekend’s East Lansing Art Festival (ELAF), festival goers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite piece of art in the new People’s Choice Award category and peruse award-winning art from previous festivals at a new pop-up art gallery inside the East Lansing Marriott at University Place.

NEW People’s Choice Award
Festival goers are invited to vote for their favorite of five juror-selected art pieces from noon-5 p.m. on Saturday, May 19. Festival goers can keep an eye out for the People’s Choice Award Nominee signs at the artist booths or stop by the ELAF information tents (M.A.C.-Albert intersection and Albert-Division intersection) for a list of all of the nominees’ booth locations. Ballots will be available at both locations (artist booths and information tents); however, voted ballots will need to be turned in at the ELAF information tents in order to be counted. The piece with the most votes will receive the People’s Choice Award (formerly the City of East Lansing purchase award) and will be purchased with funding support from the East Lansing Downtown Development Authority and the City’s Percent for Art Fund. The purchased art piece will be displayed at East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road.

Pop-Up Art Gallery
Festival goers are invited to peruse City of East Lansing purchase award winners from previous festivals at a pop-up art gallery displayed in the former Douglas J Salon space inside the East Lansing Marriott at University Place, 300 M.A.C. Ave. The pop-up gallery will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 19.

The ELAF will be taking place May 19-20 in the heart of downtown East Lansing. Learn more about the festival at www.elartfest.com.
