Taste & Shop (and Groove!) in Downtown East Lansing on Friday, Aug. 10

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The East Lansing Downtown Management Board is pleased to announce a Taste & Shop event, taking place next Friday, Aug. 10 in downtown East Lansing in conjunction with a free, live performance by the Kalamazoo-based Celtic band The Founding as part of the ongoing East Lansing Summer Concert Series.

With the purchase of a $20 wristband (children 10 and under eat for FREE with the purchase of an adult wristband), downtown visitors can enjoy “tastes” of menu items from nine restaurants and sales at a variety of participating businesses before and during the concert. View Menu & Sales (PDF). Those who purchase wristbands will also receive a free parking voucher to be used at any of the gated lots and garages in downtown East Lansing. Wristbands will be sold from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in Ann Street Plaza (corner of Albert and M.A.C. avenues) and food will be available until 9 p.m. The Founding’s free, live performance will take place from 7-9 p.m. in Ann Street Plaza.

Participating businesses include: Beggar’s Banquet, Buffalo Wild Wings, Campus Burger, Harper’s Restaurant & Brewpub, Jersey Mike’s, Lou & Harry’s, Menna’s Joint, Noodles & Company, Pita Pit, Splash of Color Tattoo & Piercing, Sundance Jewelers, Rally House East Lansing, East Lansing Threads and the Student Book Store.

About the Music
The Founding is a Progressive Celtic band from Kalamazoo, Mich. With their timeless, energetic and powerful approach to songwriting, they strive to constantly push the boundaries of the Irish and Scottish music traditions. Over the past two years, The Founding has become one of the premier acts in their genre in Michigan and promises to be one of the best of its kind. This young band has performed at venues throughout the Midwest, making appearances at the Michigan Irish Music Festival, the Sparta Celtic Festival, the Kalamazoo Irish and Scottish Festivals and many more.

The East Lansing Summer Concert Series features free, live performances on Friday nights from 7-9 p.m. in downtown East Lansing’s Ann Street Plaza. The 2018 series goes through the end of August. Learn more at www.cityofeastlansing.com/summerconcertseries.

Lansing Eastside Folklife Festival
For community members looking for more musical entertainment throughout the weekend, there will be a Lansing Eastside Folklife Festival at the Allen Neighborhood Center (1611 E. Kalamazoo St., Lansing) on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. The festival is FREE and open to the public.
