EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing has launched its 2018 Community Photo Contest, officially sponsored by Meijer, the East Lansing Downtown Management Board and the East Lansing Downtown Development Authority. The contest deadline is Sunday, October 14, 2018 at midnight.
Community members of all ages are invited to show off their photographic talent by submitting up to five photos taken in East Lansing during any of its four seasons. Photos should be high resolution and should not be significantly edited. Recent photos are preferred. Participants do not have to be a resident of East Lansing, but all photos must be taken in East Lansing.
Photos can be submitted online at www.cityofeastlansing.com/photocontest. Winners will be contacted after the deadline to fill out and submit a signed entry/model release form. The model release portion only applies if the photos contain people. The forms are currently available on the website for those participants who would prefer to submit their forms ahead of time.
Winners will receive gift card prizes generously donated by this year’s sponsors:
1st Place - $100 Meijer gift card
2nd Place - $75 Meijer gift card
3rd Place - $25 Meijer gift card
Downtown Category* - $50 downtown East Lansing parking voucher
Honorable Mention Photos (10 total) - $10 downtown East Lansing parking vouchers
*Participants can submit their best photos of downtown East Lansing for a chance to win this prize.
In addition to the prizes, the winning photos will also be featured in City of East Lansing marketing materials – online and in print.
“This is a great opportunity for community members of all ages and abilities to show off their skills at photography, while also showing us what they love about the East Lansing community,” said Communications Coordinator Mikell Frey. “We receive so many beautiful community photos each year and are really looking forward to seeing this year’s submissions.”
