EAST LANSING, Mich. – The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) has arrested a suspect connected to at least one confirmed incident of window peeping in the Bailey Neighborhood.
In response to a complaint of a subject peeping into the windows of homes in the neighborhood, ELPD opened an investigation and spent a considerable amount of time over the past four days working to locate, identify and apprehend the suspect. During the overnight hours of Wednesday, Sept. 5, an ELPD officer encountered an individual matching the suspect description. The individual was subsequently arrested on unrelated charges.
Based on a significant amount of evidence, ELPD detectives are confident that the subject that was arrested is responsible for the confirmed window peeping incident. The detectives are currently preparing a case for charges related to the incident.
In light of this recent incident, ELPD would like to remind residents to take simple, but effective home security measures, such as keeping windows and doors locked when away from home and during the overnight hours. The use of outdoor illumination is an effective measure to deter incidents such as this from occurring as well. ELPD also encourages residents to remain aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activity to the police immediately by calling 911.
