[ARCHIVED] East Lansing Welcomes the World to Take Place Sunday, Oct. 7

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The 9th Annual East Lansing Welcomes the World event will be hosted at the East Lansing Public Library (ELPL), 950 Abbot Road, on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

International students and families are invited to come meet their East Lansing neighbors at this special FREE event, brought to the community by a partnership between the City of East Lansing and Michigan State University.

The event will feature catered food, live music, family activities, community information tables and more. There will also be a brief program at 2 p.m. featuring welcoming remarks by MSU Interim President John Engler, East Lansing Mayor Mark Meadows and ELPL Director Kristin Shelley.

For those in need of transportation to the event, a shuttle bus will run from campus to ELPL on a loop from 1-3:30 p.m., stopping regularly at Hubbard Hall, Holden Hall, Spartan Village Community Center and 1855 Place. The shuttle bus is free and available to anyone who needs a ride from the MSU campus to the event. The last bus will leave ELPL at 3:30 p.m.

“East Lansing Welcomes the World is a wonderful annual event that serves to welcome our new neighbors from across the globe to the East Lansing-MSU community,” said ELPL Director Kristin Shelley. “We are honored to serve as the host site for this special event again this year.”
