EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are advised that Abbot Road, from Grand River Avenue to Albert Avenue, will be closed to traffic on Saturday, Sept. 22 to accommodate gas main work by Consumer’s Energy related to the ongoing Center City District project. The road will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Abbot-Albert intersection will remain open and traffic will be detoured (view detour map) as follows:
- Southbound Abbot Road motorists seeking to access Grand River Avenue will be detoured west on Albert Avenue, north on Evergreen Avenue, west on Valley Court and south on Delta Street to Grand River Avenue.
- Westbound Grand River Avenue motorists seeking to access Abbot Road will be detoured north on M.A.C. Avenue and west on Albert Avenue to Abbot Road.
- Eastbound Grand River Avenue motorists seeking to access Abbot Road will be detoured east to M.A.C. Avenue, north on M.A.C. Avenue and west on Albert Avenue to Abbot Road.
Gas services are not expected to be interrupted for nearby residents and businesses during the work.
