EAST LANSING, Mich. – The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) has obtained an open murder arrest warrant for a 30-year-old Mississippi man in connection to the homicide that occurred in East Lansing last week.
ELPD is working with state and federal officials to take this individual into custody. The suspect's identity will be released upon his arraignment.
Background
At approximately 2:44 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, ELPD responded to a report of shots fired and people fighting in the 2500 block of Abbot Road. Upon the officers’ arrival at the scene, it was determined that there was a victim with a gunshot wound who was transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased.
The deceased is 22-year-old Isai Berrones from Alamo, Texas. Berrones was a Michigan State University student.
