EAST LANSING, Mich. — With cold temperatures in the forecast over the next couple days, City of East Lansing officials are suspending the enforcement of sidewalk snow and ice removal until 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1.
This will allow additional time for property owners to clear the sidewalks adjacent to their property as temperatures warm up later in the week.
With that being said, property owners are encouraged to clear sidewalks earlier if the temperature allows in order to keep the East Lansing community safe and passable for residents.
Community members are encouraged to keep these safety tips in mind:
- Get the latest forecast, including the wind chill
- Push, don’t lift
- Dress for the weather
- Wear warm boots
- Drink water
- Take frequent breaks indoors
