EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are advised that underground utility work associated with the Center City District project will require the closure of a portion of Abbot Road and Albert Avenue next week, March 4-10.
Abbot Road will be closed from Grand River Avenue to Albert Avenue and the westbound lane of Albert Avenue will be closed from Grove Street to Abbot Road.
Work will begin the morning of Monday, March 4 and is scheduled to be completed by 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. Abbot Road will be temporarily re-opened on Saturday, March 9 by 2 p.m. to accommodate MSU game day traffic, but will be closed again on Sunday, March 10 to accommodate final work.
Vehicles headed southbound on Abbot Road will be detoured to Oakhill Avenue and vehicles headed northbound on Abbot Road will be detoured to M.A.C. Avenue. Vehicles headed westbound on Albert Avenue will be detoured to Grove Street. View the Detour Map (PDF) for additional information.
Access to the Grove Street Parking Garage will be maintained via Linden Street and westbound Albert Avenue. Pedestrian and business access will also be maintained during the work. City staff will be visiting businesses in the affected area to discuss planned road closures, deliveries and parking.
