[ARCHIVED] East Lansing Public Library to Host 8th Annual Books, Bites & Bids on Friday, April 12

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Public Library (ELPL), 950 Abbot Road, will host its annual Books, Bites & Bids fundraising event on Friday, April 12 from 5:30-9 p.m., with a presentation at 6:45 p.m.

Each year the library hosts this premier event to celebrate the successes of the library with the community, while raising money for a new project. Attendees will enjoy fabulous food and drinks in the stacks, family activities and a silent auction; with donations from local businesses, hotels and restaurants. This year the event will be emceed by Wharton Center for Performing Arts Public Relations Manager Bob Hoffman.

“It’s wonderful to see the community, patrons and staff come together to support the library,” said ELPL Community Development Specialist Phyllis Thode. “I am so grateful for the generosity of the businesses who donate and for all who bid on the baskets! We have some amazing additions this year, with more than 100 different businesses donating to the auction.”

Community members can register for the event online at http://bit.ly/ELPLBBB.  There is a suggested donation of $30 per person or $60 per couple/family. Donations can be made prior to the event online, at the library's Service Desk or by calling (517) 351-2420 ext. 0. Donations will also be accepted at the door on the night of the event.

“I am excited to be hosting our Books, Bites & Bids event for the eighth year,” said ELPL Director Kristin Shelley. “This is a premier event for the library and the community and helps to raise money for our next project. It is a great night full of family friendly fun, food and music and we are delighted to have Bob Hoffman as our emcee this year.”

All proceeds raised at this year’s event will go towards developing an interactive, educational children’s garden, which will include a rain garden, programming and a story walk.
