[ARCHIVED] Community Invited to a Facilitated Panel and Community Conversation on Bans, Walls & Mass Shootings

EAST LANSING, Mich. — In light of recent hate acts that have occurred across the nation and world, the City of East Lansing, East Lansing Human Relations Commission, MSU College of Education and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan are hosting a facilitated panel and community conversation focused on moving beyond despair and trauma.

The event will take place Wednesday, March 27 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road. All interested community members are invited to attend.

The program, titled “Face to Face: A Conversation About Bans, Walls and Mass Shootings,” will include panel reflections from community members on the Muslim ban, Parkland and Tree of Life Congregation shootings and building "the wall.”

“For the purposes of healing and moving forward, there needs to be a discussion on these events that have taken place in our country and community,” said ELHCC Coordinator Elaine Hardy.

This event is part of a continuing series of East Lansing events planned in an effort to spark community conversations around the topics of diversity and inclusion.
