Community members are advised that underground construction work associated with the Infrastructure Restructure project will begin in the Michigan-Harrison intersection on Monday, May 6.
During the work, Harrison Road traffic (traveling in both directions) will be unable to go through the intersection, but will be able to make turns onto Michigan Avenue. Detours utilizing the Michigan Avenue median crossovers will be in place. The closure will not impact Michigan Avenue traffic, as work will be taking place in the central median area of the intersection. The work is expected to last approximately six weeks, at which time the intersection will fully re-open to traffic. View the Detour Map (PDF) for additional information.
Road work along Michigan Avenue, from Harrison Road to Highland Avenue, will also begin next Monday, May 6. There will be lane closures in place, but one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction with the exception of three weekend closures: June 1-2, June 29-30 and July 27-28. Westbound Michigan Avenue will be closed to traffic in the project area from June 1-2 and July 27-28. Eastbound Michigan Avenue will be closed to traffic in the project area from June 29-30.
