EAST LANSING, Mich. — At approximately 11:40 a.m. today, June 10, the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) responded to a reported bank robbery at the Flagstar Bank, located in the 1400 block of E. Lake Lansing Road.
During the robbery, a male suspect indicated that he had a weapon and demanded cash. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, he left the bank. There were no injuries to anyone at the bank.
The 911 caller provided a description of the suspect, including that he had bandages on his face in an attempt to disguise his appearance, and his last known direction of travel. Responding officers were able to locate the suspect in the 1800 block of Hagadorn Road as he attempted to enter an apartment building. Officers contacted the suspect and took him into custody without incident.
Officers located a large amount of cash, an object fashioned to appear like a handgun and false bandages in his possession. The suspect is being held at the East Lansing Jail pending arraignment on the bank robbery charges.
