[ARCHIVED] Summer Solstice Jazz Festival Street and Parking Lot Closures

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The 2019 Summer Solstice Jazz Festival (SSJF) will bring local, regional and national jazz acts to the heart of downtown East Lansing for a two-day festival that is not to be missed. This year’s festival will take place from 4-11 p.m. on Friday, June 21 and 2:30-11 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.

The festival site layout will be the same as last year, with the Founders’ Stage (main stage) located in the Bailey Parking Lot, 139 Bailey St., and the Education Stage located adjacent to the Albert-Division Street intersection. Please take note of the following downtown street and lot closures for the festival:

  • Albert Avenue, from Division Street to Charles Street, and Albert Avenue, from Division Street to Bailey Street, will be closed from 5 a.m. on Friday, June 21 to noon on Sunday, June 23. All intersections will remain open to through traffic.
  • The Bailey Parking Lot, 139 Bailey St., will be closed from 2 a.m. on Friday, June 21 to noon on Sunday, June 23.

All other downtown East Lansing parking locations will be open and accessible: https://www.cityofeastlansing.com/335/Parking-Locations. The Division Street Garage (181 Division St.; entrance on Division Street), which can be accessed by turning on to Division Street from Grand River Avenue, offers ample parking and is adjacent to the festival site. Accessible parking for those with disabilities will also be available on the east side of the Bailey Parking Lot (139 Bailey Street; entrance on Bailey Street).

In addition to live music, there will be children’s activities, a live art demonstration, eat-on-site food and more.

Community members can find additional information about the festival, including the 2019 performer lineup/schedule, at www.eljazzfest.com. The event is free and open to all community members.
