[ARCHIVED] Ribbon-Cutting Event for MSU’s First Protected Bicycle Path

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State University and City of East Lansing officials will celebrate the installation of the first protected bicycle path in mid Michigan this week.

What: Join East Lansing and Michigan State University leaders for the official opening of a new two-way protected bicycle path on Bogue Street. The pilot project is designed to study if pedestrian bicyclist safety is improved in the high-traffic area.

Who: Speakers will include:

• Mark Meadows, City of East Lansing mayor
• Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D., MSU president
• Satish Udpa, MSU executive vice president of administration

When: Thursday, Aug. 15
Program begins at 1:30 p.m. with the ribbon cutting immediately following.

Where: Between the Grand River and Shaw Lane on Bogue Street in East Lansing, Mich.

Parking: Media are directed to park in Ramp 1, which is accessible from Shaw Lane.
