EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) has notified next of kin and is now releasing the name of the 22-year-old victim of last night's homicide in the Grove Street Parking Garage.
The deceased has been identified as Michael Anthony Smith of Dewitt Township. Smith died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds he received during the shooting.
The second victim, a 21-year-old Dewitt Township man, received non-life threatening injuries and has since been treated and released for those injuries.
Neither of the victims are Michigan State University students.
SUSPECT DESCRIPTIONThere are two unidentified suspects in this case. The first suspect is described as a black male, 5’9” tall; weighing between 160 and 185 lbs. The second suspect is described as a black male, 5’11’ tall; weighing approximately 200 lbs. The suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a vehicle described as a red, four-door sedan, possibly a Lincoln or Dodge.

BACKGROUNDAt approximately 11:55 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, ELPD responded to a shooting in the Grove Street Parking Garage.
Upon arrival, officers located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were immediately transported to the hospital. One victim did not survive his injuries.
