EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Fire Department is investigating a structure fire at 1049 Cresenwood Road, which was reported in the early morning hours yesterday.

At 3:20 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, a newspaper delivery person observed smoke coming from the single-family home and called 911. Fire crews responded and extinguished the fire. The home was not occupied at the time and there were no injuries.

This is the second fire at this location in recent months. The first incident was a kitchen fire that was reported in the early morning on Nov. 22, 2023.

The East Lansing Fire Department reminds community members to replace smoke detectors that are 10 years or older, replace the batteries in smoke detectors annually and test smoke detectors on a monthly basis to make sure they are fully operational.
