Should I call 9-1-1 when my carbon monoxide alarm sounds?
You should only use 9-1-1 if there is a life-threatening emergency. If your alarm sounds and someone has symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, you should call 9-1-1, then evacuate everyone from the home. If no one is ill, you should ventilate the home by opening doors and windows and call a qualified service technician to check all gas or oil fueled heating, drying, and cooking appliances.

If you have any questions, please call the East Lansing Fire Department at (517) 332-1956.
