Why were the trees removed along Michigan Avenue? Will they be replaced?
  • The tree removal along Michigan Avenue was necessary to accommodate the installation of the large diameter combined sewers and storm sewers while maintaining one-lane of traffic along Michigan Avenue. The trees were removed prior to the start of construction by the City to limit any interference with the endangered Northern Long-Eared and Indiana Bat habitat.
  • All trees removed in the median of Michigan Avenue will be replaced at the end of the project.
